- Summary:
The VR World Prototype Building Project made it possible for clients to experience Technomart, Korea’s largest electronics shopping mall. The virtual environment enabled chatting and walking through the mall. Up to 256 users could occupy the same channel.

Web Integrated VOD Service Project

This was a construction project for an ATM-based MPEG-2 Streaming Service. I developed an EPG (electronic program guide) and a Program Management System. I also designed web-to-streaming player integration without ActiveX technology.

Intranet Push Solution "IntraCast" Project

- Summary:
I constructed a Push Technology Based Intranet System for personal/group messaging, and for users to exchange messages or documents using the P2P Document Transfer Service. Managers could also use the service to send notices or orders directly to their staff.

Dynamic CGI Authoring Tool "EasyDB" Project

- Summary:
I researched, first, the tools used by those unfamiliar with programming when creating dynamic websites related to bulletin boards, membership and e-commerce. I discovered several methods, but none quite appropriate for the average non-programmer. So I created “EasyDB,” which lets users define their data, automatically generate a CGI source and compile it. Users could also design a dynamic page using a template separated by binary.

I developed software to label/design blank CDs. I also contracted a label company to market a “CD Label.” The project featured Vector/Bitmap/Text Editing functions, an Object Arrange Function and a Printing Tune Function.

Photo Sticker Printing S/W "Photo Stickee" Project

This was a variation of the “Stickee” to support photo printing and bundled with an HP Photo Printer. I created software to design and print photo stickers. I also used a Photo Scan Function, Vector/Bitmap/Text Editing, an Object Arrange Function, and a Printing Tune Function.

SamsungFn.com’s main page had accumulated heavy traffic due to its finance and stock data. To reduce traffic, I developed a daemon to freeze complex the main page to a static page periodically, except in private areas containing personal user information. The task required a Dynamic to Static page Publisher, a daemon Service and Interval Based Publishing.

Samsung Electronics Kids Browser Research Project

I focused on how children could handle the Web more easily, and on whether a customized browser for kids would help. To improve usability for children, I helped combine browser, mail and chatting services in a unified interface. We also offered web and search services, since evaluated by the Junior NAVER service. The task also required Agent Technology, MIME Type Mail support and a Kid Default Web Service (with NAVER).

- Summary:
To create a first membership card for Hyundai Oilbank, one of the largest oil refineries in Korea, we fixed an offline user DB containing millions of people’s information. With so much wrong and redundant data, I analyzed the pattern of data and created a migration filter and verification tool for DB Cleaning.

Dynamic CGI Authoring S/W "CGI Builder 2.0" Project

I created a CGI Builder (upgraded from “EasyDB”) for increased interacting web applications. It preceded the CMS(Content Management System) and supported a template-based Dynamic Data (DB or File) Publish and Input/Modify/List/Article/Delete Functional CGI Generation. It let users build their own data flow using the CGI Builder. It also supported Cross-Platform CGI Generation.

Free Gift Service "Eyegift" Project

- Summary:
I was project manager for inventing a new advertising model enabling advertisers to sponsor product tie-ins while allowing end-users to draw lotteries by watching advertisements. We gained 800,000 users in two months. The business model was also exported to Japan.

I developed a program allowing end-users to create photomosaics, a service that had previously offered only offline-based services. The task required a Based Mosaic Image Process Algorithm, an Image Comparison Algorithm and a Shape Based Image Library Query.

- Summary:
I supervised a joint venture called “Eyegift Japan” between my company and COMTEC, a Japanese SI company. “Eyegift Japan,” a new advertising business model, was ranked the 80th most popular website by Japan Website in 2001.

Broadband Portal "Korea.com" Project

- Summary:
I took charge of building the contents portion for a “mega portal” for Thrunet, an enterprise listed in NASDAQ. The portal combined 4C (Contents, Communication, Commerce, Community). The large-scale project involved 650 servers (now 850), millions of pages, 200 content providers and 100 means of content providing. I designed a content lifecycle and established various developing policies. I also oversaw a staff of 80. This portal is considered the biggest window-based Portal Site, as showcased in Microsoft.

Contents Management System "eCMS 3.0" Project

- Summary:
I served as project manager for the creation of an eCMS, an upgrade from a CGI Builder 2.0. The system contained a feature to manage contents and supported an area ACL which permitted or denied workers/work groups in a page consisting of different sections. As if using Legos, users could insert or replace section blocks of pages. Distinctive from other solutions, eCMS supported authorizing techniques enabling the end-user to make dynamic (logical) pages without any programming techniques. The work required up to 200 content replication nodes, up to 200 CP(Content Provider), up to 50GB contents uploaded per day, analysis of content workflow per service and more.

SK Global US Logistics Agency Shopping Service "Wizwid.com" Project

- Summary:
Created “Wizwid.com,” a new business model enabling automatic logistics. The site did not sell domestic products, but global addresses. If a user joined the service, he received his own address in the U.S., which allowed him access to everything in U.S. domestic markets. To increase the flexibility of global logistics, I created a workflow system to design global logistics and to track processes easily. “Wizwid.com” became the best global shopping mall and logistic service in Korea.

Shinhan Financial Portal "Emoden.com" Project

- Summary:
Shinhan Financial Group, the 2nd largest financial group in Korea, needed a financial portal to support all of its services including insurance, banking and selling of financial funds. It also needed a personal financial dashboard through which users could see all details of accounts, credit card activity, insurance and e-mail on one screen. I adhered to strict national security policies (ones more stringent than in the U.S.) by using ActiveX personal key security. I created an aggregation agent supporting all security solutions in Korea and constructed a parallel aggregation system distributing aggregation requests to 200 agent servers.

Account Aggregation "eAgent" Project

- Summary: This solution was created for content aggregation in an “Emoden.com” project. It required developing a site aggregation agent, an Aggregation Authoring Tool & SDK, 128-bit private key-based site aggregation (using ActiveX Plug-in, more restrictive than SSL) and verification from Yodlee.

SK Telecom Portal "Netsgo Renewal" Project

- Summary:
Netsgo (renamed Nate) is ranked 3rd among portal services in Korea. The focus of this project was migrating away from the old site to accommodate the large scale of the website. The task required up to 1TB DB cleansing, up to 6000 previous channels, rearranging of the channel structure, unification of a data repository, use of ASP authoring technology and eCMS 4.0.

Samsung Electronics DA(Digital Appliance) HomeVita Prototype Project

I created a prototype of DA to exhibit at Comdex Fall in Las Vegas. I developed a gateway program in a set-top box, a main server of DA. To communicate DAs including televisions and air conditioning units, I designed a set-top box to control them and indicate their status.

I helped develop a forecasting maintenance/fault finding system of DA (Digital Appliance). The system connects attached equipment of IB (Intelligent Building) with PLC (Power Line Communication), collects data, and then forecasts mechanical defects based on past records. This revolutionary project changes the old concept of A/S (After Service) to B/S (Before Service), letting users examine a product before the product breaks down.

SKINET is the main KMS of SK Telecom. It contains varied categorized data and connections from legacy systems. I made the service more flexible to accommodate expansion. This let users and managers not only make such declarable data as RDB, but also scrape data from other KMS and websites.

Online Education Service "Edubox.com" Project

This was the first large-scale project under a .NET framework. Student members always connected at the same time, as contracted schools used this service according to demands of teachers. In one instance, more than 1000 unique users connected to the service within the same ten seconds. The system is capable of supporting such a heavy request.

KIDC SMS Solution "IMS(Internet Monitoring System)" Project

I designed an IMS for effective server management for KIDC (Korea Internet Data Center), the biggest hosting company in Korea. The system monitored thousands of servers via SNMP, customized protocols. It let users define their own policy, including alerm level and server status reporting. IMS also notifies the manager via e-mail or mobile phone when a server encounters trouble.

E-motion Game Portal Service "Oraksil.com" Project

I developed a core module integrating macromedia flash format data and DirectDraw surface data. It supports flash animation and scripts. By using this module, a designer can easily design game characters and animations. It also combines characters in Web service and characters in game service, enabling users to better identify with their character.

E-motion Web Platform Standardization "ePPS ver.2.0" Project

ePPS is an abbreviation of “Project Platform Standard,” for reusability and cost efficiency. I upgraded a Website reference set and integrated it with CBD methodology.

Samsung Electronics IB(Intelligent Building) Hitch Forecast System Project 2

- Summary:
For this project, I upgraded my work from 2002. In the previous project, forecast algorithms were created by Java because algorithms had not yet been made. In this project, algorithms are hard-coded. I re-developed a forecast system matching Samsung’s new framework for DA. The job involved creating Intelligent Building DA (Digital Appliance) Middleware, a power line communication to TCP/IP, a realtime status monitoring service, a Plugin Based Hitch Forecast Structure, Hitch Forecast Algorithm based on C++, a forecast Alerm to A/S (after service) agent via mobile SMS and DA management.

Digimon RPG Publishing

- Summary:
To broaden my company's game market share, I strategically planned a famous character-based MMORPG (Massive Multi-user Online Role Playing Game) and produced a Digimon RPG based on Bandai Digimon characters. The service has drawn more than 2 million users, and a maximum of 20 users are connected at once in the Digimon world.

- Summary:
In conjunction with CCR, a big-5 game company in Korea, I helped produce X2Game.com, combining Oraksil.com (E-Motion’s game portal) and CCR’s existing services. X2Game.com was ranked the 5th best game portal in Korea by www.rankey.com and www.100hot.co.kr.
